Northrend 5 Man Instances Empty
PostSubject: Northrend 5 Man Instances   Northrend 5 Man Instances EmptyWed Sep 09, 2009 1:07 am

This is a write up for those new to Northrend and need to know fights.

A few of these places Have an extra boss when done in heroic, as well as the fights being generally harder.
I will update and add more as i can. Please feel free to ask questions in game or in forum.
Just in case some people don't know here are a few explanations of some the acronyms, and common used terms.

AoE : Area of Effect. it is or any attack the covers a large area hitting multiply targets.
LoS: Line of Sight. Some times a tank will do a LoS pull, which means they will taunt the mob, then move out of LoS and wait for the mob to come to him.
Stack: To stack means for everyone to stand with the tank, or in rare case's, you might be told to stack on healers. just means to bunch up close.
HoT: Healing over Time. Any healing spell the does "x" amount of healing over "Y" amount of time.
DoT: Damage over Time. Any Attack that Does "X" amount of Damage over "Y" amount of time.

Enjoy Very Happy

Utgarde Keep

The easiest instance in Northrend, the mobs are easy pulls, nice and straight forward.

First Boss: Prince Keleseth
The tank pulls the boss, and soon as he has aggro, the dps do their thing. a few second into this fight some adds will appear, you the tank gets aggro and then AoE them down. Then Prince Keleseth will cast An "Ice Tomb" on someone in the party. You should attack the tomb as straigh away. Especially if it's the healer or tank. Rinse and repeat

Second Boss: Skarvald & Dalronn
This boss is actually 2 that need to go down within 10 sec of each other. Mot groups will mark one as "skull" and the other with "X" then you should take "skull" down to 10% HP, switch to "X" and kill, then switch back to "skull" and finish him off.

Third Boss: Ingvar the Plunderer
there are 2 phases to this fight, and all CD's should be saved for the second phase. The first phases is normal Tank and Spank. Once he down, he will be revived and the first thing he does is cast an LoS AOE, so everyone but the tank should stand behind one of the many pillars until it has been cast. Now is the time to use all your CD's (heroism and activate any trinkets that increase damage) As He can does a lot more damage in the second phase, and can stun healers. so tanks be aware. Ingvar also throws his axe, which will spin in mid air and do a lot of damage quickly killing any dps that doesn't move. The tank can be healed thru this but depending on your healer you might need to use Any CD's you have to reduce damge taken.

The Nexus

Upon entering the instance, take the left path, there is a single pat here, kill and continue down the ramp to the left. there is a pat mob here and then there is some mobs frozen the break free as soon as you come close. the 3rd iced mob is boss(in Heroic, not sure if he's there in normal).

First Boss: Commander Kolurg
When pulling this boss, the tank should pull him right back to the start of the ramp, as one of his abilities is a fear, which can send you running into other mobs if not pulled back far enough. He has 2 adds with him, who should be taken down first, then the boss. Dps should step out when he does his whirlwind. he has a charge, which is not that damaging, but if you are unsure, then stack up, and run out when when that whirlwind comes.

Second Boss: Grand Magus Telestra
2 stages to this fight, first stage is just Tank and Spank. At 66% and 33% she splits into 3, and all 3 have to be killed before she will reform and do it all again. the usual kill order for the split is Purple, Blue then Red. Purple, stuns and polly morphs, blue has blizzard AoE and arcane just does single target damage. this fight can be hard for healers and from what i have heard near impossible to tank all the adds.

Third Boss: Anomalus
At multiple times during this encounter The boss will create rifts, these should be taken down straight away, and in some cases he becomes immune until the rift is destroyed. So a fairly simple fight, just attack adds and then back to boss.

Forth Boss: Ormorok the Tree-Shaper
there are some small lashers in the area before this boss, as well as mobs,. the lashers do not die until Ormorok is dead, so you have to keep moving in this area.
When you get to Ormorok, everyone should stack on him and should be just tanked in the middle where he stands. This is to avoid the crystal spikes that he cast's after 3 seconds. aprt from staying in nice and close this is a simple fight.

Fifth Boss: Keristrasza
There is a pat in the room once he is killed, this fight is started by unlocking the 3 crystal balls around the room. Once this is done, there is a De-Buff "intense cold" that should be kept to a minimum. This is done by simply moving. Either slight left to right, or a jump does it also. This limits casters a lot to instant cast mostly. She will also cast "icechain" which hold you in place, use what you can to break out of this, if you can, otherwise the healer should just heal thru it. and dps should stand to her side, rather then behind her, as her tail can sweep and knock you and do a fair amount of damage.
